What We Believe

Evangelical, but not exclusive.

With all evangelical churches, we proclaim the Gospel of grace through Jesus Christ. We believe in the necessity of new birth and that each person needs to have a person relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that anyone who accepts Jesus as savior becomes part of God's family and we welcome anyone who makes that commitment to Jesus Christ into our church.

We recognize the Holy Spirit as one of God's great gifts to us. The Holy Spirit helps us understand the Bible, guides us in our daily lives, empowers us and supplies the gifts needed by the Church and its members to exalt Christ.

Biblical, but not legalistic.

We affirm the Bible as God's Word to us and the only perfect guide for faith, doctrine and conduct. It is a practical book which not only informs us but also guides and encourages us in our daily lives.

We emphasize unity among believers that allows for differences of opinion. There are basic truths that are essential, yet we recognize that faithful Christians can differ on matters of interpretation, doctrine and practice within the context of biblical guidelines and historical Christianity.

Traditional, but not rigid.

Our worship is informal and contemporary while retaining key Christian traditions. We seek meaningful ways to express our faith. We incorporate a comfortable blend of contemporary and traditional styles of music.

Congregational, but not independent.

Faith Covenant Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church. The Covenant Church is somewhat unique among denominations in the evangelical tradition in that it maintains theological freedom in the context of conservative biblical theology. Church historian Martin E. Marty has described the Evangelical Covenant Church as "the most ecumenical, distinctively evangelical denomination in the United States."

Each local church is the primary authority for church decisions. The Covenant is congregational in organization, encouraging all members in local congregations to give themselves to the decision-making process--whether that be in the calling of pastors, setting ministry goals and budgets, or providing adequate facilities for ministry.

Despite the independence of each congregation each Covenant church shares in a common mission with other Covenant churches and gladly joins hands with all Christians to proclaim Christ.
